Review of internal security and counterterrorism strategy
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called for revisiting the strategy to deal with the outlawed militant outfits. “It is time to review decisions we took or were made to take with regards to internal security and terrorism,” he said.
“There is nothing wrong in admitting that we were wrong about a few things and right about some other things and re-examine our approach,” he added.
He clearly stated that it was the responsibility of the government to “ensure peace, rule of law, and the writ of the state,” and “we can’t afford a return to the dangerous days of terrorism,” he concluded.
The Centre for Governance Research (CGR) endorses the concerns raised by the FM and will soon come up with a Policy Brief on required Internal Security and Counter Terrorism Strategy.
