Director’s Update

National Initiative against Organised Crime in Pakistan is about to complete six months as a pilot project initiated since 01 November 2019. Since inception the project has been supported by Vienna-based Global Initiative Resilience Fund. With approval of the five-member advisory board, NIOC has so far focused on four categories of organised crime: terror financing; drug trafficking; human smuggling/trafficking; and cyber crimes. Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, our focus now is to monitor and analyse the OC and Pandemic Nexus. We are bringing out a weekly CoronaCrimeWatch review.
We are confident that the pilot project will not only be extended till June 2020 but would also expand its scope of activities during the second half of the current year.
We welcome Ms Samina Ahmed as the sixth member of NIOC’s Advisory Board who will join with effect from 01 May 2020.
