MINUTES OF NIOC’S 20TH ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
The 20th Advisory Board Meeting of NIOC was held on Friday 04 June 2021. The following participated: Tariq Parvez, Zahid Hussain, Samina Ahmad, Jawaid Akhtar, Zubair Habib, and Manzoor Ahmad. NIOC directorate was represented by Tariq Khosa, Kashif Noon, Ali Nekokara, Ammar Jaffri, Saroop Ijaz, and Hassan Sardar.
Director Khosa welcomed new AB Member Dr. Manzoor Ahmad and requested President AB Tariq Parvez for his welcome remarks who introduced Dr. Manzoor as a distinguished former civil servant belonging to the Customs Service. He also served as ambassador to the WTO. Dr. Manzoor also expressed his sentiments and expressed his pleasure to be a part of the National Initiative against Organized Crime in Pakistan.
Director NIOC informed the board that the proposal to carry out study on serious and organized crimes was under final review with the Vienna-based Global Initiative Resilience Fund. The contract was likely to be awarded to NIOC for work from July to December 2021.
Team Leader of the 3-month study on connectivity and criminality Dr Ejaz Hussain, Deputy Director NIOC presented a progress report on Phase-1 of the study during May 2021.
OC Monthly Review for May 2021 was written by Director PIPS Amir Rana. Monthly CE Watch was released by DD Ejaz Hussain. Similarly, NIOC Newsletter for May 2021 was also circulated.
Director Khosa informed all the participants that he had got the Centre for Governance Research registered as a private limited company with the SECP. From July 2021, NIOC will run as a project from the platform of CGR instead of PIPS.
