MINUTES OF NIOC’S 44th ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

The 44th Advisory Board Meeting of NIOC was held online on Tuesday 5 September 2023. The following AB Members participated: Tariq Parvez, Samina Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed and Jawaid Akhtar, Zahid Hussain and Zubair Habib could not attend due to their prior commitments. NIOC Directorate was represented by the following: Tariq Khosa, Azam Khan, Nawaz Nadeem, Ammar Jaffri and Hassan Sardar.

At the outset, Director NIOC conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire team to Tariq Parvez on the sad and untimely demise of his wife. May God bless her soul. Amen.

The following agenda items came under discussion:

1) CGR-NIOC released a Position Paper on the recently established AML and CFT Authority in Pakistan. The paper was authored by Syed Kaleem Imam, NIOC Consultant. It has been shared with all the key stakeholders within the Government of Pakistan.

2) CGR-NIOC is in the process of drafting a CVE National Action Plan under the leadership of Tariq Parvez, who was part of the working group that came up with CT NAP in 2014. The action plan will support and promote the objectives of CVE National Strategy drafted by NACTA in 2021.

3) Director CGR-NIOC will participate in person in the UNTOC Constructive Dialogue on International Cooperation in Vienna on 12-13 September 2023 and represent the Civil Society Alliance of Pakistan on the UNTOC Review Mechanism so successfully being carried out under the supervision of National Focal Person, Dr Ehsan Sadiq, DG National Police Bureau.

4) The three Working Groups of the Civil Society Alliance on UNTOC: Legal Experts, TOC Experts. and Gender and Human Rights Experts will soon come up with Position Papers for consideration by the key GOP Stakeholders, including NFP Ehsan Sadiq.
