NIOC to build resilience in the youth against the menace of drug abuse in the society
District Dadu is a remote district of Sindh Province in Pakistan. Police Department of Dadu in collaboration with National Initiative against organized Crime (NIOC) Pakistan organized Inter School Sindhi declamation contest among the youth of the district. The thematic focus was ‘Drug Abuse is a Menace for Society. Students from 12 schools of the districts participated in the contest. The event was attended by Journalists, Teachers and Other respected citizens of Dadu Districts. A panel comprising of senior researcher and academic Hakim Ali Shah Bokhari, President District Bar Association, Niaz Hussain Panhwar and Assistant Superintendent of Police Dadu, Ali Haider Minhas judged the students.
The students ardently participated in the declamation contest. A female student of OPF School Dadu, secured the first position, while the second position was secured by another female student of Government Girls Degree College Dadu. The third position was secured by yet another female student from Air Foundation High School Dadu. The winners were awarded cash prizes, commemoratory shields and certificates by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dadu. All other participants were also given certificates of participation. Dr. Farukh Raza SSP in his address on the occasion highlighted the value of drug abuse awareness especially among the youth was critical as the youth represented Most At Risk Adolescents (MARA) for falling in to drug trap. He iterated that this contest would create awareness and will support eradication of drug abuse in the society. The event ended with a note of thanks to all.
